Individual Therapy

One-on-one therapy for midlife BIWOC who are facing challenges with anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, perfectionism, past traumas, and any life transitions.

Are you at a point in your life where something has shifted, and what used to keep you going no longer does?

This service is for the working professional or entrepreneur who feels overwhelmed wearing several hats, the empty nester who may feel awkward or distant in marriage without the kids as the glue, or “who am I”, the recently retired who may feel “I don’t know who I am without my job”.

A lot of midlife women of Color come to therapy because they are tired of holding it together on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or drained on the inside.

Anxiety may be showing up as constant overthinking, many thoughts racing through the head, especially at night, irritability, feeling on edge, or even panic symptoms. For some, past trauma starts resurfacing from triggers, shutting down, feeling numb, or feeling stuck. Life transitions can add to it: relationship changes, burnout, family caregiving, or career changes.

Therapy can be a space to exhale, make sense of what’s happening, and start building a calmer, clearer way forward.

If anxiety has you overthinking, past trauma is still showing up in your body and relationships, or life feels like it’s moving faster than you can keep up with. Therapy can help you get clear on what is driving the stress or how to shift into a different perspective and build tools you can use in real life so that you can feel more grounded, confident, and more like yourself again. Anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, stress, and other symptoms can be reduced or eliminated as you master healthier coping strategies.

Before Therapy, You may be:

  • Stuck in your head, second-guessing everything

  • People pleasing, over-giving, then feeling resentful

  • Triggered easily, emotionally shut down, or constantly on edge

  • Repeating the same relationship pattern, wondering “why do I keep doing this”

After our work together, you’ll:

  • Feel more grounded and emotionally steady

  • Make decisions without spiraling

  • Set boundaries without feeling guilty

  • Communicate better and show up differently in relationships

The process

What to Expect

Connect

We begin with a free 15-minute consultation to talk through what’s bringing you in, what you’re hoping for, and whether working together feels like a good fit. I’ll share how I work and what you can expect.

Clarify

In our first full session, we complete a comprehensive intake to understand your history, patterns, relationships, and goals. This gives us a clear, holistic foundation for the work ahead.

Integrate

From there, we focus on the patterns keeping you stuck, whether anxiety, trauma responses, relationship dynamics, perfectionism, or stress. We combine practical tools with deeper processing so change shows up in your everyday life.

Your Role in the Process

Therapy works best when you’re willing to be engaged in the process. That means setting goals together, being honest about what is and isn’t working, and participating at a pace that feels manageable.

In our sessions, you’ll share what’s been coming up for you. I’ll ask thoughtful questions, reflect patterns back to you, and offer tools or strategies to practice between sessions.

Real change happens in your daily life. The more you apply what we discuss outside of our time together, the more meaningful and lasting the shift will be.

FAQS

Still Have Questions?

  • You may be a good fit for individual therapy if anxiety, past trauma, or any life transition has been weighing on you and nothing you’ve tried has really worked long-term. You care about your growth, and you’re not looking for a quick fix. You want real change, and you are ready to fully show up; open, honest, consistent, and willing to engage in support and guidance that helps you move forward.

  • Price depends on the session type, and whether you're using insurance, I am in network with or private pay. For private pay, initial assessments are $230, and individual therapy sessions are $200. If you are using in-network insurance, the price will depend on your financial responsibility with your insurance.

  • To be ready, you only need to be open to sharing your thoughts and story, willing to fully engage, be honest, and committed. If you want, you can bring a pen and notebook to keep track of questions you may have or things you want to discuss, as well as to note key information from the session that you may find helpful.

  • After you reach out, we will schedule a 15-minute free consultation to discuss your wants and needs and determine whether I am a good fit for you. Once we have established that we are a good fit to work together, you will be sent intake consent forms to complete before your first appointment, and we will move forward from there.

  • It’s completely normal, especially if you have been holding a lot in for a long time. You don’t need to show up with an agenda or questions. We’ll start with what feels most present and comfortable for you that day. I will help guide the conversation, so we don't end up talking in circles.

  • Most people start with weekly or biweekly; however, we’ll choose what makes sense based on what you are dealing with and what you can realistically keep up with. As far as how long therapy takes, there is no one-size-fits-all timeline. It depends on the person and their needs, and sometimes those needs change over time. We will check in along the way and adjust as your progress warrants.
